Working is good; not working is better

I knew when I switched to freelance work full-time that motivating myself to work wouldn’t be a problem; I don’t feel relaxed until things are “done,” so I don’t have a tendency to procrastinate. I didn’t foresee the opposite problem: that I’d have trouble stopping.

Before I made the switch, I told myself I’d be done working by 8 pm every night. Unfortunately, yesterday was another of many days when I worked from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed — from 9 am to 10 pm. Then I had trouble sleeping because my mind was still whirring with the things I hadn’t finished yet and how I was going to fit it all in tomorrow. So I had to wake up and read for about 45 minutes before my mind quieted enough to let me sleep.

So, before the public, I am going to make the commitment again: I will stop work at 8 pm. (I want to say except in extenuating circumstances–but really, I could make an extenuating circumstance out of anyting).
